sold two items

Well, Its nice to have a sale now and then, and today I got two! One on ebay and one of Etsy. On one site I sold something I paid $2.00 for and the other I paid $3.00 for. One I bought at a thrift store and one at a local fleamarket. I got 19.99 on ebay and $20 on Etsy. I'd say thats a good day, and a good profit. Ebay has been real slow lately. Use to be I was selling left and right there. all I had to do was list, and like magic it sold! I did have a sale there last month. I was finding these cute little glass decanters. They looked like a man or woman. The stopper had a face in it. I was listing them starting at 9.99 and paying from $2.00 to $3.oo for them. Then I found one that was a woman and one a man in the same color aka a pair! Well the pair sold for over $45 and a single man sold for $56 and one I only got 9.99 for. I guess it really depends who is looking at what times. Come to find out they are very collectible. I have seen them listed as Blenko glass and some other European or Italian glass. One was listed on Ebay starting at $177 in England. I am happy enough with the profit I made and now someone is happy that they got a bargain with thier purchase. What better day could I have?
Another good thing to come from my sales. I was looking for a toddler gift and saw a plea on Etsy for sales from someone having a difficult time in thier lives right now. Since I had 2 sales today, i purchased a handmade clown doll for the toddler gift, and not only got a great handmade gift, I made someone elses day too!

check out the teapots at my favorite pottery!

If your looking for a teapot thats so unique its one of a kind you have to check out this potter. I met him personally last summer when we traveled from our home in Connecticut to Hickory North Carolina on vacation. I love to collect face jugs. Yes, Southern Pottery face jugs and if you don't know what they are go to ebay and search face jugs. They are awesome! But anyway, I stumbled upon this potter and emailed him and we talked and he was going to make me a face jug, so while we were on vacation we stopped into his studio. He was so down to earth and friendly. His studio is in his home in Hickory. His work is popular and he is represented by many galleries. But I found his teapots so interesting I want to pass it along to you. His name is David Bellar and this is his website. Please have a look at his teapots especially but all his work is exceptional I think. www.carolinapottery.com

Selling on ETSY and EBAY

Well no sales this week. When I sit down and figure, its like Ebay s fees are getting too high for the amount I sell. I list like 13 things this week and sold 1. So I think that might have to change. As far as sunnfox.etsy.com goes, I have been there a month and sold 13 things. The community there is much nicer than Ebay though. I just wish there were more buyers. Someone put stats up the other day in the forumns and said there were like 125,ooo sellers registered on Etsy and like 5 times that in buyers registered there. If that is true where oh where are all the buyers.? I know Etsy is confusing because its mainly a site that sells " all things handmade" but vintage is the "other" catagory allowed besides a few supplies. There are some wonderful vintage clothing on that site so if your into that please take a look. I sell mostly retro items, and vintage art glass, myself, so if you have a 50's kitchen and love aqua check my store out. I have some vintage pyrex, some vintage hats, vintage stretch glass, Murano, some beautiful fabric for the dinning room, a few vintage purses, which seem to be a best seller there, sent one to Scotland last week, and many other ceramic and collectible items. I think its really a nice store. I even have a goregous blue and aqua Picasso scarve, which is a nice stocking stuffer for a business woman. There are some pretty unique things that could be bought for Christmas. Especially if you have someone who is hard to buy for.

New HTF Christmas ToyFor Boys HELP

Well, I know already what its going to be this year. I remember the year of the Cabbage Patch Doll, The year of the Furbie, and others. Last year was the year of the Wii. This year its some kind of small ball that is magnetic or something and you throw it and some little figurine comes out or something. It starts with a B. I only know this much because I have two small grandsons and thats what they want. I check a few local department stores and the shelves are empty already so I am off to Ebay to see if I can find them. If thats what they want I have to get them somehow, after all, I am the Grandma!
If you happen to know the correct name of these things and/or where I can purchase them at reasonable price please let me know

Lousy day today.

Urgg What a day! First thing I had a lady email me that her vase she bought from me on Ebay was delivered in several pieces. That dam p.o. if you mark it fragile forget it! They use it to play football! Now I have to try to refund $40 and if that wasn't enough, I found out my co-pays on my meds are all going to change because my hubbys work is changing health care providers AGAIN! Its getting rediculous. How do people live on one income? I am disabled. I worked since I was 16. At 52 I lost a leg to diabetes so I get a whopping 500 a month in payments. I don't have social security yet. So my meds cost me over $200 A MONTH IN JUST CO PAYS. WHAT IS THIS COUNTRY COMMING TO? Seems my husbands work changes health care providers every year at least. Then we have to start again with deductibles and the co pays change.
Just a lousy day. Hope tomorrow is better. maybe I'll get some new sales at etsy or on ebay and I will have some money in my Paypal account to pay the lady her $40.Course I spent hers already. I started Christmas shopping. I like to have it done by Thanksgiving. Then I save a few stocking stuffers to run around for at the last minute, to get me in the spirit! From the forums comments I think its going to be hard on alot of people this year. I have never heard of so many people complaining that they are being foreclosed on or that they or thier hubbies are out of work, laid off , etc. Its trying times for Americans and even other countries right now. I'd like to hear some happy news if you have any. I need some fudge, yeah, chocolate nut. yummmmm

I am a Twitter or maybe just a TWIT?

I JOINED TWITTER TODAY.
SO I guess I am a twitter or maybe just a Twit? Anyway its fun. I get to promote my ebay and etsy shop there. Check it out if you have a few minutes. twitter.com

ETSY IS MY NEW SELLING SPACE

WEEKS SINCE I BLOGGED. ACTUALLY, I DON'T REALLY LIKE BLOGGING. ITS LIKE TALKING TO YOURSELF, OR WRITTING A LETTER. NO ONE THERE TO ANSWER YOU RIGHT AWAY IF YOU ASK A QUESTION OR NEED HELP.
WELL, I AM STILL HUNTING BARGAINS ON MY LITTLE SHOPPING SPREES AND PUTTING THEM UP FOR SALE. I GO TO THE LOCAL THRIFT STORES EVERY WEEK. I AM DISABLED SO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE WILL TAKE ME. MY DINNING ROOM LOOKS LIKE A TORNADO HIT IT. BAGS, BOXES AND ITEMS ALL OVER. WE NEVER USED THAT SPACE TO EAT ANYWAY. OUR KITCHEN IS LARGE ENOUGH FOR A TABLE AND THE TEEN EATS IN HER ROOM HALF THE TIME.
SO I STARTED A SHOP ON ETSY. THE URL IS SUNNFOX.ETSY.COM COME AND TAKE A LOOK. I HAVE LOTS OF GLASS AND RETRO AND VINTAGE ITEMS. THE FRONT PAGE SAYS ETSY IS FOR EVERYTHING HANDMADE, AND IT IS BUT VINTAGE ITEMS CAN ALSO BE SOLD THERE. THEY DON'T PROMOTE THE VINTAGE THOUGH, AND THAT CAUSES QUITE A BIT OF COMPLAINING AND COMMENTS IN THE FORUMNS. CHRISTMAS ISN'T THAT FAR OFF, MAYBE YOU WANT TO TAKE A LOOK. IF YOUR INTO HAND MADE SOAP YOU'LL BE OVERWHELMED WITH THE AMOUNT OFFERED BY SO MANY SELLERS. THERE ARE SOME STORES THAT SELL THINGS I WOULD NEVER BUY AND THERE ARE ALOT OF STORES SELLING THINGS I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF, AND THERE ARE ALOT OF BEADS, AND JEWELRY MADE FROM BEADS, AND ALOT OF THE STUFF LOOKS THE SAME, AND THEN YOU'LL COME ACROSS A SHOP THAT HAS FANTASTIC UNIQUE THINGS! COME ON JOIN US AND HAVE A LOOK AROUND. REMEMBER ITS SUNNFOX.ETSY.COM I STILL SELL ON EBAY UNDER THE NAME SUNNFOX ALSO. I AM TRYING TO GO TO ALL ETSY AS EBAYS FEES ARE BECOMING UNREASONABLE TO THE SMALL SELLER. WELL, I AM OFF TO TWITTER NOW TO BLOG A LITTLE THERE. TALK TO YOU LATER...

home from stormville ny fleamarket

It's Monday, Labor Day weekend. I've returned with my treasures from yesterdays outing.
I did make one mistake. It wasn't the Biggest Yard Sale, it was a special fleamarket with dealers, a 3 day deal. but I still got some deals, i think.
I paid just $3 for a vintage gold mesh Whiting and Davis clutch purse. It is clean inside, and still has its chain strap that you can add to make it a shoulder purse. There is only one tiny mesh thingy missing on the whole purse. Some of these purses sell for over $100. I will list mine on ebay starting at just 9.99. I will give someone the chance to walk away with a bargain, and still make double profit. I also bought a Federal 1960's white with orange transfer mug. The transfer has cartoon -ish graphic of the Beatles. Some paint loss on one side, the other side is great. Just $5. Found three of my favorite thing to sell right now, small enamel on copper plates, that were popular in 50s thru 70's. No Sasha B's this time around. Although I did see one they wanted $45 for. None of mine are marked, or signed. but they are pretty, and very collectable right now and I didn't pay more than $4 for any one. I should easily be able to get $10 each. Not big money but, sell 10 things and you"ve made $100 bucks.I will let you know in a future post what I end up getting for them. Here is the website incase you want to try your luck some warm fall weekend. http://www.stormvilleairportfleamarket.com/
If your interested in putting a bid in on my auctions on ebay my seller name is sunnfox there.
If your interested in buying homemade items or vintage items outright check me and my friends out at http://www.etsy.com/ or www.sunnfox.etsy.com my seller name there is also sunnfox.
see you tomorow.

SUNDAYS AT A FLEAMARKET

HI,
FIRST I AM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE. OR SCREAM. I AM JUST TYPING THIS BLOG IN CAPITALS BECAUSE MY EYE SIGHT ISN'T WHAT IT USE TO BE AND I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO READ SMALL PRINT FOR AWHILE. I ALSO HOPE IT MIGHT HELP OTHER SENIORS BE ABLE TO JOIN IN HERE AND READ IT WELL.

I AM NEW TO BLOGGING. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I DO SOMETHING WRONG.
I AM A 61 YEAR OLD GRANDMA OF TWO ADORABLE BOYS, WHO LOVES THRIFT STORES, ESTATE SALES, TAG SALES AND MOST OF ALL FLEAMARKETS.
I BUY VINTAGE GLASSWARE, SOMETIMES CLOTHING, PURSES, SHOES, AND COLLECTABLES. I HAVE BEEN SELLING ON EBAY FOR 10 YEARS, AND STILL DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT COMPUTERS, OR HOW TO MAKE PICTURES ETC APPEAR HERE. I AM GOING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW. I AM SELLING ON A NEW WEBSITE NOW, ITS ETSY.COM EBAY IS GETTING TOO BOSSY. THEY INSIST NOW THAT WE DO NOT TAKE MONEY ORDERS OR PERSONAL CHECKS FOR PAYMENT, BUT WE HAVE TO ACCEPT PAYPAL OR PROPAL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. OF COURSE THEY OWN PAYPAL AND GET A PERCENTAGE. LIKE THEY DON'T ALREADY GET ENOUGH OF OUR MONEY.
ANYWAY I AM TRYING ETSY.COM ITS A WEBSITE THAT ALLOWS ONLY HOMEMADE OR VINTAGE ITEMS TO BE SOLD ON IT. THEY GAVE ME A IDEA TO BLOG, SO I AM TRYING THAT OUT TOO. IN 20001 I FOUND OUT I HAD DIABETES AND ENDED UP HAVING A LEFT LEG AMPUTATION. SO I COULD NO LONGER WORK AS A WAITRESS AND BARTENDER IN THE SPORTS BAR/RESTRAUNT THAT I HAD WORKED IN FOR
15 YEARS. I FOUND MYSELF WITH LOTS OF FREE TIME ON MY HANDS, A ALOT LESS MONEY. AND DISABLED. SO I STARTED GOING TO FLEAMARKETS BUYING AND RESELLING. ITS WORKED OUT VERY WELL SO FAR.

I LIVED IN NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT. I LOVE TO FIND NEW FLEAMARKETS NEAR AND FAR . IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ONE I DON'T LIST AS HAVING BEEN TO, THATS CLOSE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. TOMORROW BEING A HOLIDAY WEEKEND WE ARE SETTING OUT FOR NEW YORK, NO NOT THE CITY, I HAVE ONLY BEEN THERE ONCE AND THAT WAS NOT FOR A FLEAMARKET. BUT TO A LITTLE TOWN WAY OUT IN THE BOONIES, AND ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF FROM HERE. IT'S CALLED THE AIRPORT ANTIQUES AND FLEAMARKET IN STORMVILLE , NEW YORK. THEY HAVE SEVERAL THEME WEEKENDS A YEAR AND THIS WEEKEND IS THE BIG "FAMILY YARD SALE"

NOW A FLEAMARKET USUALLY CONSISTS OF DEALERS AND COLLECTORS, PEOPLE SELLING NEW THINGS, AND PEOPLE SELLING OLD THINGS. THIS WEEKEND ONLY NON DEALERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO SELL... THAT MEANS... BIG SAVINGS, AND MAYBE THE CHANCE TO FIND SOME REAL TREASURES!!!
ALREADY MY PALMS ARE SWEATING IN ANTICAPATION. WE WILL BE UP EARLY AND ON OUR WAY, BECAUSE I HAVE FOUND THAT ESPECIALLY ON SUNDAYS, EVEN IF THE FLEAMARKET ADVERTISES DAWN TO DUSK, BY NOON, YOU HAVE SOME PEOPLE ALREADY PACKING UP. IF THEY ARE NOT SELLING ALOT, IF THE WEATHER IS TOO HOT, TOO COLD, TO WINDY ETC. OR IF THEY HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE 4 AM SETTING UP. DEALERS ESPECIALLY. WE ONCE DROVE 4 HOURS TO PENN.(YOU KNOW WHAT GAS COST NOW) TO A FLEAMARKET, PAID OVER $100 FOR A ROOM THAT NIGHT, AND WHEN WE GOT TO THE FLEAMARKET PEOPLE WERE ALREADY PACKING UP. I GET UPSET. ESPECIALLY IF I HEAR THE DEALERS COMPLAINING THAT THEY ARE NOT SELLING ENOUGH. BECAUSE I AM A BIG BELIVER THAT IF YOUR NOT SELLING, YOUR PRICES ARE TOO HIGH! SOMETHING MAY HAVE A "BOOK VALUE" OF A CERTAIN AMOUNT, BUT ITS ONLY WORTH WHAT SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. (I DON'T KNOW WHO TO CREDIT FOR THAT REMARK BUT I HAVE HEARD IT A THOUSAND TIMES. WELL, I WILL STOP BY TOMORROW NIGHT (IF I CAN FIND IT AGAIN) AND LET YOU KNOW HOW THINGS GO, WHAT I FOUND, AND WHAT I AM GOING TO DO WITH IT. NEXT WEEK WE WILL BE GOING TO THE ELEPHANTS TRUNK, FLEAMARKET, OPEN UNTIL DEC. AND YES, ITS OUTSIDE, JUST OUTSIDE OF BRIDGEPORT, DANBURY CT. ON RT 8 I BELIEVE.
